For Immediate Release: EMAHO FOUNDATION'S THIRD ANNUAL CELEBRATION OF PEACE
Sunday, December 11th, 5-10 PM at the Ice House, 429 W. Jackson St., Phoenix
Emaho Foundation invites one and all to a Celebration of Peace featuring an impressive sculpture exhibition, musical and dancing entertainment, and a talk by the Venerable ZaChoeje Rinpoche, a Tibetan Lama. The festivities will honor the anniversary of the award of the Nobel Peace Prize to the 14th Dalai Lama in 1989.
Downtown Phoenix's premiere arts and entertainment space will come alive with music and dance performances that will feature the jazz band Sonorous and Näthan Gangadean, along with Fire and Tribal dancing. Pete Deise's latest sculpture exhibition, "Ascension" grace the dramatic roofless Cathedral Room.
Sonorous is an original band that plays jazz funk fusion with a backwater blues appeal. Sonorous has their own unique, experimental, and improvisational style. Näthan Gangadean is a singer, songwriter, performer and musician, who uses his art to bridge the spans between people, cultures and world views.
Pete Deise's latest exhibition is six new large-scale steel sculptures which represent the forces of nature acting on living bodies. Dozens of characteristic tentacles writhe at the top of each piece.
The Venerable ZaChoeje Rinpoche is the spiritual director of the Emaho Foundation. He was recognized by His Holiness the Dalai Lama at the age of 17 as the 6th reincarnation of ZaChoeje Rinpoche. Rinpoche's studies were under the direct guidance of the Dalai Lama during and after his monastic training. ZaChoeje Rinpoche was recently honored to present the Long Life Prayer for the Dalai Lama on the occasion of the Dalai Lama's 70th Birthday in July. Rinpoche will talk on the Dalai Lama's tireless efforts at peace, emphasizing his message of love, compassion, and universal responsibility.
